Objectives and Strategic Priorities

The objectives below are drawn directly from the SPAG Terms of Reference.

    Coordination with the Department of Peace Operations (DPO) on Member State policing activities.

    Rule of Law alignment

    Alignment with Rule of Law and Security Institutions initiatives in UN field missions, including Security Sector Reform (SSR), justice, and corrections.

    International police frameworks

    Support for the development and refinement of international police frameworks and guidance within the UN framework.

    Deployment standards and training

    Expert advice on deployment standards, training, and capacity-building for UN police components and Police Contributing Countries.

    Collaboration

    Collaboration between UNPD, other relevant UN bodies, and international organizations.

    Capacity-building

    Capacity-building for Formed Police Units (FPUs), individual police officers, and specialist police roles.
